Let’s Shoot your self tape
Want to put forward your best possible audition for drama school but you don’t have the space, tech or software to do a self tape? You’ve come to the right place. We’ve been shooting self tape auditions in our Newtown studio for hopeful students since since it all went online and have had students get into NIDA, WAAPA and ACA so we know you can too.
HOW IT WORKS:
1. Come to the studio on King Street in Newtown (close to Marly Bar, Al Jannah etc) If you need to change into your blacks, we have a bathroom for you to do that.
2. We’ll do a quick get-to-know-you and warm-up together so that everyone’s feeling at ease. We’ll chat about which school(s) you’re auditioning for and a bit about your pieces. You’re also welcome to bring a friend, parent or existing acting coach if you’d like.
3. Action! We do 2- 3 takes of each piece (time permitting) as well as your intro video if required for your audition. Between each take, Gary will provide guidance on what worked well and feedback for what could work better.
4. Finally, you’ll have your headshot taken if you select this add on. This can be used for your application and future auditions.
5. The videos will be edited together with slates and sent to you the following day with the edited headshot as well. You’ll then upload the video to accompany the rest of your application and we’ll all keep our fingers crossed for you!

Caitlin is a visual creator, specialising in video and stop-motion animation. She has extensive experience in studio work and she’ll make you feel right at home (especially as the studio is set up a bit like a lounge room). Caitlin will be shooting your audition, making sure you’re in the right framing for the requirements and edit your best takes together with slates (aka title screens) for you to upload with your application.
Gary is an actor, writer, director… (the list goes on.) He graduated from the Bachelor acting program at NIDA and has gone on to shoot all kinds of things in front of, and, behind the camera. Gary will help you warm up, give you direction and feedback on your pieces, answer any questions you might have regarding the NIDA course and give any other tips that might arise.
Places are filling up fast and most acting school deadlines are 30th September so get in quick, book your spot via the form below.
TIPS FOR MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR AUDITION IN THE STUDIO
- Do your best to know your lines before you come in, that way you can spend more energy on acting rather than remembering
- If required for your audition, it’s great to practise your intro spiel about yourself (if required) We can still give tips for this but it’s great to give it a little bit of thought and maybe run it past the people who know you best so you can welcome their ideas.
- to make the most of your time in the studio, it would be best to come prepared in your blacks and with your make-up on (if relevant) but also, keep make-up simple/minimal to best show your true facial expressions
